Brisbane Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery challenges the traditional healthcare interior

We’re proud to see Brisbane Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery (BPCS) featured on ArchDaily, one of the world’s leading platforms for architecture and design. The project, completed in 2025, marks an exciting step in Studio Collective’s growing workacross healthcare, wellness and hospitality-inspired environments.

Located within Brisbane’s James Street precinct, the new BPCS flagship was designed to challenge the traditional expectations of a medical environment. Rather than relying on clinical cues, the interior takes a more residential and hospitality-led approach, creating an environment that feels calm, welcoming and considered from the moment patients arrive.

The design is grounded in a restrained palette of warm timber, silver travertine, softly rendered walls and layered textures, complemented by warm lighting and subtle mid-century influences. Every element was considered not only for its aesthetic contribution, but also for its durability, acoustic performance, privacy and compliance with healthcare requirements.

A key focus of the project was creating an environment that supports both patient and staff wellbeing. Back-of-house spaces were given the same level of attention as the public areas, while practical requirements such as way finding, handrails and acoustic treatments were integrated seamlessly into the overall design rather than feeling like additions to it.

The project also represents an evolution in Studio Collective’s approach to commercial design - bringing our experience across high-end residential and aged care into a new healthcare setting, and exploring the intersection betweendesign, wellbeing and hospitality.

Developed in close collaboration with Marc & Co, the interiors extend the architectural language of the building through carefully considered finishes, furniture, lighting, styling and signage, creating a cohesive experience fromexterior to interior.
